Terttu Uibopuu - an Estonian photographer capturing the enchanting beauty of two homes

An Estonian-born photographer and bookmaker Terttu Uibopuu is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at Wesleyan University, ICP, and Yeshiva University. She has exhibited works in shows at Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery and Regina Rex. In 2012, she participated in the AIM program at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. Terttu has received BFA in photography from Columbia College of Chicago and MFA in photography from Yale University.

Terttu Uibopuu photographs subtle signs of trauma and recovery in the American South and in her native Estonia. “As I feel at home both in America and in Estonia, I want to create my own photographic history that combines these two disparate regions,” she said. “As Estonia recuperates from a political occupation, and the American South continues to deal with the aftermath of a natural disaster, I set out to photograph the less sensationalized aspects of these places.”
