Based on the autobiographical books of Käbi Laretei, “Soloist” is a story about a person with an extraordinary passion. As the daughter of an Estonian diplomat, Heinrich Laretei, Käbi was forced to interrupt her studies at the Tallinn Conservatory at the age of 18 and flee to Sweden because of the war. With great willpower and the help of several private teachers, she became an outstanding concert pianist. She performed on the biggest stages in Europe and North America, including the Royal Festival Hall and Carnegie Hall. However, two children, several passionate relationships and two marriages also somehow co-existed with a very successful career; the first as a top conductor and the second as a world-famous director. How does it all fit into one person’s life? In an interview with Urmas Ott, she said: “I am a greedy person. I want everything. But if you want everything, you can get everything...?”

Directed by Kersti Heinloo, starring Kersti Kreismann, Kirke Karja, Märt Metsaviir.
