Young Artist Grant

The grant from the Foundation of Estonian Arts and Letters (FEAL) supports the creative work of a young artist who is of Estonian heritage and a resident of the USA. In 2024, the FEAL will award one grant of $2,000.

Requirements for applicants:

  • Be 18-35 years of age

  • Be of Estonian heritage

  • Be a professional or emerging artist in one of the following fields:

    • Music

    • Performing arts

    • Folk art & culture

    • Literature

    • Visual and applied arts

  • Be active in the local Estonian community or reference Estonia through their creative work (recommended)

  • Be living in the USA for at least 3 years

  • Has not received the grant in the last 3 years

The grant request must include:

  1. Application

  2. Essay of 1-2 pages that includes a description of your work and accomplishments, goals, planned use of the grant and your connection to Estonia.

  3. Two (2) letters of reference recommended. One letter should refer to your creative work. The second letter may also refer to your creative work or to your activities in the Estonian community. The references should be emailed directly by the writers in PDF format directly to FEAL at: info@estonianculture.org

  4. A portfolio representing your creative work (also in PDF format).

The application may be completed in Estonian (preferred) or in English. The application deadline is June1, 2024. All documents are to be submitted via email to: info@estonianculture.org

The applications will be judged based on the content and quality of the applicant’s creative work, planned use of the grant and engagement with Estonian cultural or community activities. The grant committee reserves the right to withhold all grants if no suitable candidate is found. The award will be announced on June15th.
