Tuul brings the unique flavors of Muhu to New York. For only four days, from April 4 to 7, the Tuul pop-up restaurant is open in the Estonian House. Tuul is a private summer restaurant operating in the village of Nautse on the island of Muhu.   In good weather they serve meals in the Nautse-Mihkli courtyard but otherwise operate in the farm mansion. The restaurant is run by chef Ingrem Raidjõe, who also is the voice of the Saaremaa and Estonian seafood advertising campaign.  Additionally he worked as a TV chef and published the cookbook "Meite maitsev Muhu!".  Ingrem's cooking style is to prepare honest and genuinely delicious Estonian food from local island ingredients with a little world traveler's twist mixed in.  In winter, Ingrem surfs the world's best waves and gathers inspiration for the new summer season.   A couple of examples of Tuul's signature dishes are flash-salted fish, beetroot pie and buttermilk panna cotta. Prepare your taste buds!

80 years have passed since the Mass Refugee Flight of 1944, when more than 80,000 Estonians fled their homeland to survive. They did not want to go, but they could not stay. During the brunch the Estonian American National Council introduces the commissioned memorial sculpture (artist Elo Liiv) and place of remembrance to be created in Pärnu, funded collectively by Estonians and friends abroad. Donations toward the project can be made through EANC. Read more at estosite.org.
